Sani Pass Luxury Package at Amazian Mountain River Lodge

The most outstanding highlight is the hair-rising Sani Pass, the steep, abrupt hairpins that twist to the top of the escarpment to the highest point in Southern Africa reachable by wheels, starting at the lodge. This is the only 4WD track into Lesotho from Kwa Zulu Natal. The pass it self, an experience of a life time, zigzags into the clouds, and draws increasingly more visitors from all over the world, to the “Roof of Africa”. An organised Tour with qualified operators or a 4WD, and a valid passport is required to conquer this magnificent pass, that once was a riverbed that started in Lesotho winding itself down to the sea.

The guides have several years’ experience of Lesotho and Sani Pass and with their intimate knowledge they offer a unique African experience.

As the Sani Pass trip is arranged on an exclusive basis the guests can choose to experience either a standard, cultural or birding trip.

The trip starts with the history of the pass and although the distance from the lodge to the top of the pass is around 55KM's it takes around 2,5 hours to ascend to a height of approx. 3 000 M.

Should you wish to relax for a third night, we offer a wonderful South African wine and food pairing lunch which is served at The Wine Gallery of Africa located at Amazian Lodge. Enjoy some of the wines from the premier South African private estates.
